PHOTO SHOOT TIPS
I'm super excited for your photo shoot! Below are some tips that before your session to ensure we are on the same page for the shoot. I think that’s it for now, but please feel free to contact me if you need anything.
TIME
Please be on time! Make proper considerations for traffic, hair delays, and fashion emergencies! ;) If we start late, the session is not extended, but, rather, ends at the regularly scheduled time. Please don’t think ill of me...I just want to be honest in advance and let you know I want the BEST photography experience for you. And being on time achieves exactly this!
LOCATION
Feel free to check out photo shoot locations beforehand. I know we talked this over already, but if something else has popped up or you have a cool idea, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I encourage you to find a spot that reflects where you're most comfortable and that you love. And please note that there is no such thing as an ‘ugly’ location....there is beauty everywhere....we just have to find it! so please know that the location doesn’t necessarily have to be pretty at every corner and the more unique the better
View Photo gallery
Be sure to check out my photo gallery sessions before the shoot. When couples view a gallery in advance, it helps them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Girls are usually more likely to model in front of the camera. Guys, on the other hand, are sometimes more hesitant. However, if they see some of my images and poses beforehand, they know that I’m only there to make them look extra handsome.
What to wear
1.- Keep your clothing simple and coordinating. It must be carefully selected to blend the bodies together. Avoid loud or busy patterns and large logos. Solid colors are best.
2.- Coordinate colors among family members, but don't match. Find 2-3 complementary colors and have all family members wear something in those color families.
3.- Try outfits prior to photoshoot
4.- Will be times during the photoshoot that you might be sitting on the ground, so what you wear should be comfortable and allow you to move around.
5.- Try to find something that fits the feel and weather of your location. (If we're going into the woods, stiletto heels might not be best, and if it's snowy, a coat is a good idea!) I love interesting
6.- textures and layers because they add such a cool look to the images. Also,
7.- try to avoid blue jeans! They are okay if that's what you've got, but I just love different colored jeans and pants, they make images look extra interesting, dressy, and stylish.
8.- Avoid neons, distracting patterns, and being too matchy-matchy.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Some women will have their hair and makeup done professionally for their shoot. This helps them feel a little more ‘done-up’ and boosts their confidence. I’m not saying you should do this AT ALL!! However, what I can say is that in my experience shooting portrait sessions, women want to feel pretty and confident...and sometimes spending a little extra time getting ready achieves just that.
how to Pose
01.- Chin forward, engage the chin, shape the face, connect the eyes to camera.
02.- Use shoulders to slim and create beautiful body language.
03.- Bring the arms up into the frame to create triangles.
04.- Lean forward slightly, looking back over the shoulder.
05.- When sitting on a chair, rotate the knees away from camera starting at 45o angle.
06.- Create triangles with the arms and the legs.
07.- Posing from the feet up creates better movement in the hips and puts shape into the body.
08.- Posing arms moving arms away from body
PROPS
It’s always fun to bring along props. I want your shoot to tell YOUR story, so feel free to bring things along that really reflect your fantastic personality. On that note, props only work if they are genuine and meaningful, so bring anything that truly reflects you individually.... or even nothing at all! sometimes simple is best if it feels right.
